How To Create A Landing Page For Free | Free Landing Page Vid On How To Make A Landing Page For Free

In today's video I’ll be sharing with you how to create a landing page for free, so that you can create a landing page to gather email subscribers even if your budget is limited. The best place to create a free landing page that converts is in Wix, my website creation platform of choice, because you can both create a landing page and gather email subscribers on their free plan. If you don’t have a Wix account yet, just click on the link in the description box below to create one.

After you’ve created a free wix account, and logged in, you’ll be redirected to your Wix editor. Click on the blue ‘+ create new site’ button up top. You’ll be prompted with a question that asks you ‘what kind of website do you want to create?’. Click on ‘other’ on the bottom right.

When asked to choose ‘how you want to create your website’, click on ‘choose a template’ under create your website with the Wix editor. Now’s the time to pick the website template you love. Wix makes things easy for you to create a landing page quickly, that it includes under its website categories, a landing pages category.

Click on that to pick the landing pages website template that you love. When you place your cursor over any of the landing page templates, you can click to edit it, view it, or access more information on who the landing page template is good for, as well as its description.

I’ll go ahead and select this ‘marketing launch page’ by clicking on ‘edit’, and we’ll now make changes to this template so that it becomes a lead generation landing page. Those of you who watched my video on ‘what is a landing page?’ will know that one of the main differentiating factors between a landing page and any regular page on your site is that a landing page doesn’t have a header or footer.

To remove the header and footer from this page, click on ‘menus & pages’ from the left-hand side panel, on the three little dots next to where it says ‘home’, and then on ‘settings’. Under the ‘layouts’ tab, switch the selection from ‘standard’ to ‘no header and footer’. If we click on undo, you’ll notice that when we change the layout selection from ‘standard’ to ‘no header and footer’, the home menu up top, as well as the social media icons and disclaimer message at the bottom disappear.

Now let’s substitute what’s written on this page to make it lead generation worthy. If you take a look at one of my lead generation landing pages as an example, I add the name of the freebie I’m giving away for free up top, then add an enticing and emotion-filled question that stimulates my visitors to sign up, and lastly have the sign-up form. So let’s create something like that on our landing page.

Change the text where it says ‘we are launching our website soon’ to the name of your freebie, such as ‘free landing page cheat sheet’, and then change the text where it says ‘marketing inc’ to an enticing and emotion-filled question, such as ‘want a FREE cheat sheet that shows you step-by-step exactly what you need to do to create a high-converting landing page?’. Remember that you can always change what this text looks like by customizing it from its individual ‘text settings’ box. Lastly let’s add another text box to get your visitors to fill out the form, by writing something like ‘fill out the form now to get it for FREE!’.

Now let’s edit and customize this email sign up form by clicking on it, and making changes from its individual toolbar. For instance, you can click on ‘form settings’ to manage your form’s existing subscribers, edit the form settings and submit message, save time with automations, create an email campaign and access support.

You can click on either ‘add new field’ or the plus sign to add a new field to your form from the recommended section, or add text, a number, a selection, date, upload, recaptcha or signature, so let’s go ahead and click on ‘recommended’ and add a first name field by clicking on the plus sign next to it.

You can click on ‘layout’ to change your form layout and field title. You can click on ‘design’ to change your opt-in form to another design or customize the current one. And lastly you can click on animation to bring some movement to your opt-in form. Once you’ve finished editing your email opt-in form, you can click on your landing page, and then on ‘change page background’ to edit these clouds to something else. You can click on ‘color’ to change the landing page’s background to a solid color, on image to change it to an image from your uploads, on video to change it to a video from your uploads, or choose one of Wix’s selected backgrounds.

After you’ve finished making edits to your landing page design, make sure to click on save, and then on publish up top to make your changes active, and start sharing your URL with your visitors.
