Wix Button Tutorial: How To Add, Link & Customize A Button | Adding Buttons To Your Wix Website

In today's video I'm going to be sharing with you how to add, link and customize a button on Wix. You can use this button to link to a different page on your website, such as to a blog post or to a landing page, to another website, such as to your online course checkout page, to your email address, and much, much more.

I created a video on this topic around two years ago, I’ll leave the link to it in the description box below, and it’s one of my most popular videos to date.

To add a new Wix button, in your Wix editor, click on ‘+ add’ from the left-hand side panel, and then select ‘button’. There are three types of buttons you can add to your Wix website: themed buttons that relate to the website theme that you chose, text buttons, and icon buttons. To add any of these buttons to your website, drag-and-drop it to the location of your choice. Once you click on the button, you’ll be able to link and customize it from its individual toolbar.

To add a link to your button on Wix, click on the link tab. From there, you can select what you want this button to link to: nothing, to a web address that opens in a new window or in the current window, to a page on your website that opens in a new window or in the current window, to an anchor, to the top or bottom of the page, to a document, to an email address, which you can even customize the email subject of, to a phone number, or to a lightbox, which are Wix’s popups. Once you’ve selected what you want this button to link to, click on done.

To customize a button on Wix, you can click on these first four tabs. Under the ‘change text & icon’ tab, you can access the same link settings we just went through by clicking on ‘add a link’, edit the text, and choose an icon.

Under the ‘layouts’ tab, from the button ‘tab’, you can choose to show both the text and icon, text only or icon only, edit the text and icon position, alignment, spacing between text and icon, and padding, during the button’s regular state and hover state. From the ‘text’ tab, you can select whether you want to show text, edit the font, font size, appearance, character spacing, and shadows, during the text’s regular state and hover state. From the ‘icon’ tab, you can select whether you want to show the icon, edit the icon size and color, during the icon’s regular state and hover state.

Under the ‘design’ tab, you can switch to another button design, or click on the blue ‘customize design’ button on the bottom to change your button’s fills, borders, corners, shadows and layout, both when in the regular state and in the hover state, edit whether the button’s text should appear or not, font, font size, font appearance, character spacing, and shadows, both when in the regular state and in the hover state, as well as edit whether the button’s icon should appear or not, both when in the regular state and in the hover state. You can also access these same settings under the ‘layouts tab’.

Under the ‘animation’ tab, you can add Wix animated buttons that bounce in, glide in, fade in, float in, expand in, spin in, fly in, turn in, arc in, puff in, fold in, flip in, reveal, and slide in. When you click on the blue ‘customize’ button after selecting an animation for your Wix button, you can edit the animation power, direction, duration, delay, and select whether you want to animate the button only on the first time or always.

Once you’ve finished designing your Wix button to your choosing, always remember to save your work, and click on the blue ‘publish’ button up top to make your changes active to all of your site’s visitors.
