Wondering how to create a clickable PDF in Canva? In this Canva tutorial, you’ll learn how to create clickable links in Canva to design an interactive PDF. So let's get right into how to insert hyperlinks in your designs in Canva with ease.
First off, if you don't have a Canva account yet, just click on the link in the description box below to sign up for free. There are two ways that you can create a clickable PDF in Canva, design a PDF from scratch in Canva, and add clickable links to that, or upload an existing PDF to Canva, and add hyperlinks to that.
Let's start by designing a PDF from scratch in Canva. In your Canva homepage, use the search bar to search for 'document'. Select the PDF document size you'll be using, such as A3 document, A4 document or US letter. I'll go ahead and select the A4 document.
You can either choose one of Canva's pre-set PDF templates, or click on 'create a blank A4 document' to start from scratch. I'll go ahead and select this white, yellow and black PDF template to add clickable links to.

Once the PDF document loads, you can either leave it as is, or click on any of the icons on the left-hand side panel to edit this document further so that it looks the way you wish. To transform this regular PDF into a clickable PDF in Canva, select the element you wish to add a hyperlink to, this can be a piece of text, a graphic or even an image, I'll go ahead and click on this piece of text, click on the three little dots up top, and then on the 'link' icon. Paste the external website link in the space provided, and then click on 'apply.
You can add as many clickable links to your PDF as you wish. So now let's click on this image and do the same thing. Let's click on the 'link' icon up top, paste the external website link in the space provided, and then click on 'apply.
To save your design as an interactive PDF which includes clickable links, click on the download icon on the top, right-hand side. Select the file type, in our case, either PDF print or PDF standard, whether you wish to crop marks and bleed, as well which pages you want to save, and then click on the 'download' button at the bottom.
Let's now head back to our Canva homepage so that I can show you how to upload an existing PDF to Canva, and add hyperlinks to that. Instead of selecting one of Canva's pre-set templates as we did before, click on 'create a design' on the top, right-hand side, and then on 'import PDF' at the bottom. Select the PDF you wish to add clickable links to from your documents, and then click on 'open'.
Once the PDF is uploaded to Canva, click on it to edit it. Just as before, to transform this regular PDF into a clickable PDF in Canva, select the element you wish to add a hyperlink to, this can be a piece of text, a graphic or even an image, I'll go ahead and click on this piece of text, click on the three little dots up top, and then on the 'link' icon. Paste the external website link in the space provided, and then click on 'apply.
